Join us for a hands-on experience at Spirit School, where you will learn the art of making a traditional First Nations drum. Using rawhide from elk or deer and cedar wood, this workshop will connect you with the natural elements and sacred traditions of drum-making.
Lydia will guide participants through the drum-making process, beginning with a ceremonial land offering to honor the land and materials. She will also share traditional songs from the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) Nation, weaving culture and storytelling into the experience.
While the frames will be pre-cut (no carving involved), participants will still engage in the powerful process of crafting their own 13” drum and drumstick. No prior experience is required. By the end of the workshop, each participant will leave with a beautifully made, fully functional drum, along with the knowledge of its cultural significance.
Come dressed comfortably and ready to connect with the land, culture, and tradition through this transformative workshop.
